1. Tell us about yourself.

I’m Trinity, hailing from Brooklyn, New York. I’ve adopted the name ‘Trin of Trades’ because I consider myself a versatile individual. When I set my mind to something, I believe I can accomplish it, and I’ve substituted ‘Jack’ with my nickname, ‘Trin’.

2. How long have you had locs and how many do you have?

I have had my locs since I was 6, and I have 57 locs. My mom originally started my locs and I eventually went to a hairstylist that helped maintain them.

3. How do you take care/wash your locs?

I take care of my locs with constant moisturization. It depends on the style as well, when I have a two strand twist in, all I have to do is spray a mist and water and I’ll be good to go. When my hair is out and free that’s where the real maintenance comes in. Getting into a hair routine is hard, but later it becomes easy because of muscle memory… you are used to doing it.

4. Do your locs have any meaning to you?

Yes, of course, my locs have meaning to me. They are my crown. I find that everyone’s history behind starting locs is amazing, whether you were inspired, started in a traditional way, or just for style purposes. I believe my locs hold a lot of power regarding me just for myself, I have had my locs during so many phases of my life…

5. Do you have any issues with your locs & how do you deal with them?

I have had a thinning issue with my locs. I recently got my locs repaired due to the consequence of dyeing my hair, I didn’t understand and realize how fine my hair was. It was never the goal to damage my hair but when I dyed it a lot without installing a routine, that was when things started to go downhill..

6. How did you start your locs?

My mom started my locs with coils. She had locs herself 🙂

**Methods to Start Locs – Which Should You Choose?**

7. Tell us about your locs (texture, length, size). Do you think any of these attributes have impacted how you care for your locs?

My hair texture is I believe 3c and 4a. I am honestly just going by my curl pattern. My hair is long, healthy, and beautiful. I have medium-sized locs. I feel like the size, texture, and length have impacted my care for locs because when I share my hair videos often people have different versions of how they would go about certain things, due to the difference in those 3 things.

8. What do you like/dislike most about having locs?

The stereotypes. The thoughts of locs being messy and you can’t take care of them etc…… disturbs me. People ask me do I wash it the same. Like, yes… I am not an alien, I just have a different type of hairstyle that is more permanent. The same rules apply. The difference is that I don’t take out my locs and embrace my new looks.

9. How do you like to style your locs?

This is an interesting question, I style my locs in a very diverse way and one of my favorites is the Bantu knot look.

10. Anything else you want to share (tips, locs, life)? Is there a way we can follow you and your endeavors on social media that you would like to share?

Be patient, you’re starting your journey for a reason, and continue to work towards your goals. whether it’s life or locs, or both you know? I go by @trinoftrades on all platforms, I am leaning more toward YouTube where you all can find me!!!
