Gemini Naturals is a Black founded and owned brand started by Lianne Dobson. What I love about the ingredients is that they are very light. The dyes are also water based and not wax based, which is great for locs. The consistency looks to be in between a light cream and gel. Take a look at some the results on locs below.

Shade Naturals Temporary Hair Dye on Locs
Shade Naturals is a Caribbean Island brand, which produces temporary dye. Their 4oz temporary hair dye is priced at $55, which is a bit pricey. However, it appears their products are produced in and ship from Trinidad and Tabago, which would explain some of that additional cost.
Overall, the products are listed as natural and free of ammonia, sulfates and other non-preferred ingredients. It does contain beeswax, which I don’t love. But it is par for the course with many temporary dyes. Shade Naturals has 7 shades, of which you can purchase a sample pack to test most of them if you prefer to see what works beforehand. As I Am Temporary Hair Dye on Locs
As I Am was founded by chemist Ali Syed, and he has dedicated most of his professional life to formulating hair products. You can find the temporary hair dye from them in many places (As I Am’s website, Amazon, Target, etc). When it comes to applying the dye, they recommend using a number of products prior to applying the gel (three!) for best results. From online reviews, you can definitely get some vibrant color without buying all the other products. However, as noted, the results may not be as good as if you used their recommended line up.

Those are a few notable temporary hair dye brands to look into. As you can see, there are a few themes with these brands. All temporary hair dye brands will have some transfer. Moreover, they fade quickly. However, all of that is to be expected to some extent given these are temporary. Have you tried any of these products? If so, what did you think?
